BigFix never makes the list from others, but I like it.With regards to system requirements, Centrify is available as SaaS, Windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and Android software. Munki is second place - it's got a lot of the functionality of Jamf, but not as easy to use, but is free. Jamf is the best tool out there in terms of ease of use and functionality. It's not in the running don't even consider it. Centrify isn't mac management.Centrify does take care of a lot of what's missing in Apple's implementation. In actual production, all of our Macs bind to the AD using Apple's Directory Utility, and user home directories mount, but of course login scripts don't execute for mapping other volumes, no real control over settings, etc. Some alternative products to I've been testing Centrify Suite as a solution for managing my Macs in a Windows AD environment. Centrify includes business hours support, 24/7 live support, and online support.PC, Mac, Linux, VDI.Enter OS X Server. It runs on Windows and macOS. The WinCollect agent collects Centrify audit trail events from the Windows machine.Macs, no longer bound directly to my AD, instead log into the OS X Server via Open Directory.3. OS X Server "connects" with my Active Directory.2. I'm wondering if the implementation can work like this:1. I see that the server can integrate with Active Directory.
Centify Password Policy IsIf AD is not the focal point of your environment, then Centrify is probably not a good choice.Second. This is the main problem that the Centrify solution solves. Ie the domain password policy is enforced thus you dont have people walking around with Mac's with local accounts and passwords that never expire. First, the primary problem that Centrify solves (specific to a Mac) is that it allows you to manage the Mac as if it were a Windows workstation. I am a Centrify employee (have been for almost 7 years). So my opinion is slightly different than what has been put forth previous about Centrify. I really haven't configured OS X Server from scratch before and have barely used it.First off, Full disclosure. Aoc e1649fwu driver for macTypically the only time i connect my Mac to the corporate network is when im reminded that my AD password is about to expire. Take myself as an example. Where a Windows workstation is primarily only used on-prem, the Mac is typically used sparingly on the corporate network. The use case for Mac's is slightly different than that of a Windows workstation or a Unix/Linux server. Again, i come back to my statement that if AD is not your corporate focal point then there are other products that probably work better for your needs.Third. I have personally deployed the product to environments that had 1000's of Mac (and Unix and Linux). This is typically not the case for a Mac user they are rarely connected the corporate network. Typically a group policy deployment strategy assumes that a machine will have persistent connectivity to the corporate network. While this may work well for password management, it does not work for Group Policy. ![]()
